Labelled Destiny

painfully aware of color

the boy takes solace

in the home of his heart

in darkness’ sweet grace

acutely sensitive to noise

this girl she retreats

into a silence within her soul

where there is only heart beat

every sight and every sound

piercing like a knife

the lonely child finds itself

forced into an inner life

touched by some strange fire

the silent frightened child

is categorized an Asperger’s

or forever as Autistic filed

cruel life becomes crueler still

for a child no longer free

stunted by a system’s blindness

limited to a labelled destiny
